SNP fails in bid to raise £50,000 for press ad campaign

A challenge set by the Scottish National Party to raise £50,000 to buy advertising space has failed.

The party, which is bidding for a second term in leading the Scottish Government, with voters going to the polls today, challenged supporters to help it raise £50,000 online to run its ad campaign across Scotland’s top 50 local newspapers in 48 hours.

The party raised the not insignificant sum of £10, 541 instead through donations made to its website.

The adverts were to highlight some of the party’s achievements which in Government over the last four years.

Each donation would see the person’s name credited through a link on the SNP website.
