Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, the billionaire founders of YouTube, are to make their next digital foray with the social bookmarking service Delicious, after selling their video sharing service to Google in 2006.

The pair paid an undisclosed sum for the ailing service after its owners, Yahoo, announced their intention to flog it after absorbing a massive write down in the firm’s valuation, $30m in 2005.

Hurley and Chen say they will “continue to provide the same great service users love and make the site even easier and more fun to save, share and discover the web's 'tastiest' content.”

A transition date has been set for June 2011 whereupon the information of Delicious account holders will be transferred to Hurley and Chen’s new internet company, Avos.

Anyone who hasn’t agreed to migrate their data or backed it up by this point will lose all their bookmarks.
