Brilliant Media comes out fighting, Ann Summers rubs M&S up the wrong way and Daybreak denies plans to ditch Adrian Chiles...

"The message is it is very much business as usual at Brilliant. The people who stepped down are all still working in the business. The truth is they stepped down as a result of our recent refinancing; as you know it can be difficult to do these deals if there is a load of stakeholders all needing to sign a piece of paper, so the reason was administrative.”

Brilliant Media managing director Chris Broadbent tells The Drum the business is still viable despite recent high-profile account losses and nine directors stepping down from its board.

“Unfortunately, we have had to prematurely withdraw with our campaign.”

Ann Summers abandons its Squeal Deal campaign - a parody of Marks and Spencer's meal deal advertising - after M&S failed to see the funny side of S&M.

"The cumulative effect of the repeated close up images of the female dancers' buttocks, together with some of the provocative dancing and actions in the video, resulted in the video's imagery conveying a highly sexualised theme."

Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom casts its eye over racy dance routines by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera on the X Factor final.

“We are fully committed to Adrian and Christine as the faces of Daybreak."

ITV bosses deny reports that Adrian Chiles is about to be axed from breakfast show Daybreak.

“We didn’t want this news to break prematurely. The media who had the story were spoken to and asked to hold off and they agreed.”

A Strathclyde Police spokesperson confirms that the force asked journalists to hold off reporting the news that Celtic manager Neil Lennon was sent a parcel bomb.

"Cosy deals to help the Tories down south will infuriate Scots and I suspect The Sun will suffer a Tartan backlash when people see that this is all about helping David Cameron and giving Labour a kicking."

Iain Gray, leader of the Scottish Labour party, warns the Scottish Sun to expect a backlash after endorsing the Scottish National Party.

"The Royal Virility performance is the perfect antidote to all the hype. A beer should be brewed with a purpose, not just because some toffs are getting married, so we created something at our brewery that will undermine those special edition beers and other assorted seaside tat, while at the same time give the happy couple something extra on their big day.”

Brewdog founder James Watt explains why the brewery has released a limited edition beer containing Viagra to mark the royal wedding.

“When I arrived, 'Your Horoscope May Have Changed' still led the chart for all sites but was heading down, while 'The Horrible Life of a Disney Employee' was in second place and on the way up."

American journalist James Fallows suggests journalism is being trivialised after a trip to Gawker Media, where live traffic statistics are shown on screens in the newsroom.
