UKTV channel Dave has created an app to support its latest original broadcast commissions.

The Dave's Comedy Map app launches tomorrow (8 April) ahead of a new season of its stand-up comedy commission Dave's One Night Stand, which premieres Thursday 14 April.

The app uses Google Maps and Foursquare and will allow viewers to zoom in on the childhood towns of comedians featured on Dave's One Night Stand, including Dave Gorman, Greg Davies and Jason Byrne.

The app, created by software design and development agencies The Rebel Alliance and Thin Martian, allows users to then view, download and share clips and facts about the comedians' home towns.

UKTV lodged an appeal with the European Union at the end of March over the decision not to allow it to register the word "Dave" as a trademark, following opposition from the Engine-owned branding consultancy of the same name.
