The brand have revealed a Union Jack design aimed to plug into national excitement surrounding the Royal Wedding at the end of April.

As reported by Marketing Magazine, the Union Jack packaging will be available in supermarkets from the end of March on its Soft White range.

The patriotic design and "100% British Wheat" tagline are being introduced to promote Hovis' use of flour milled from UK wheat. Packs will also use colour coding to describe the loaves' thickness.

The Premier Foods-owned brand believes the packaging will appeal to shoppers excited about the Royal Wedding on 29th April.

Retailers and brands haven't been slow in realising the commercial potential of the wedding.

Tesco recently launched a 100% British range of yoghurts called Yoo while online and TV shopping channel QVC have started selling a replica engagement ring.

Hovis is supporting the launch with marketing across TV and digital, and has signed a partnership with The Sun newspaper.
