A film-noir styled murder mystery has dominated this year’s video game Bafta’s, scooping awards for best story, original music and technical innovation.

Written by David De Gruttola, chief executive of Quantic Dreams, the interactive tale follows four separate characters as they attempt to identify the Origami Killer.

Heavy Rain didn’t have the event all to itself however, Mass Effect 2 won the overall best game distinction whilst veteran games developer Peter Molyneux won the fellowship award for his world building titles.

Credited with inventing the “god game” genre Molyneaux has been behind such titles as populous and Theme Park.
