Barclays has become the first corporate partner for a new environmental website which aims to match schools and community groups with local businesses.

Created by Carbon Creative, not-for-profit website Treeinspired.co.uk is being piloted in Salford, offering local groups and schools the opportunity to identify and participate in outdoor and environmental activities.

These activities ranges from planting trees or building a greenhouse to installing chicken coops and beehives for a donation starting at £50, with the list of projects being published on the website.

Local businesses are asked to support the projects by choosing which type of environmental project they would like to invest in.

Kate Hadfield, director of Carbon Creative, explained: “Being environmentally friendly has always been at the heart of what we do and we have funded and supported many local green projects for over 5 years. More and more businesses are now looking for similar opportunities and treeinspired is helping match make those businesses with local activities. We’re so pleased to welcome the Barclays team on board and are delighted to be helping them to benefit from really local investment as well as giving the community an important partner to help them create their dream green projects.”

Barclays is the first business to sign up to the programme, and will be involved with an event as part of Climate Week at the end of the month. This will see the bank donate materials and volunteer 16 members of staff to work with children from Harrop Fold High School in Salford to plant hundreds of willow trees in an effort to prevent flooding on their school field.
