Government looks to centralise marketing
The government is reportedly considering a radical centralisation of its marketing functions, moving marketers out of individual government departments and into a single body, with a significant drop in headcount.
The Cabinet Office's communications review is also considering a new name for the downsized COI.
The proposed moves have met with support from smaller units, but larger departments with sizable numbers of marketers have voiced opposition to centralisation.
The recommendations of the review are to be presented to Cabinet Office secretary Francis Maude next week by COI chief executive Mark Lund and out-going government communications secretary Matt Tee.
