Farmville’s Zynga valued at $9bn
Zynga, a social gaming company, has become the latest digital firm to secure an eye watering price tag, $9bn.
The figure is more than double the firm’s $4bn valuation made just 10 months ago and highlights the red hot (some might say overheating) market for internet start ups.
Zynga, developer of popular social media games such as Farmville and Cityville, hasn’t commented on the figures but is rumoured to be considering a fresh round of funding within a matter of weeks.
Facebook still leads the pack with a weighty $50bn tag in the eyes of Goldman Sachs and AOL’s eye raising $315m splurge on the Huffington Post.
