V&A Dundee, the international institute centre for design in Dundee has begun its search for a director to lead the project. The centre is seeking a director to develop it as a global player in design, as well as driving cultural and economic growth.

The role will see the successful applicant develop the strategy for the centre, as well as its policies, while building close relationships with stakeholders, funders, partners, collaborators and the public.

Graham McKee, project leader for the V&A, commented: “This is another major development for the project. The Director will be the first person appointed to a full-time position within the project and is someone who will be key to future successes. We will search within the UK and internationally for the right person.”

McKee continued: “The funding package from the Scottish Government, announced in January by Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop, has allowed us to take this step forward. The project to this point has been largely relying on staff from within the partners - the Universities of Dundee and Abertay Dundee, Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise and the V&A - who have worked well together to get us to this point.”

McKee concluded that the centre would now also move to appoint its own dedicated staff as a result of the input made by those public sector organisations.
