The Regional Radio Forum reforms to bolster regional radio market

The Regional Radio Forum is set to relaunch with the aim of driving radio sales outside of London and challenge for market share.

The campaign will begin with two events, one in Leeds at the end of this week and another in Manchester, both held at Malmaison Hotels, to mark the relaunch.

The aim of the forum, comprised of representatives from across the industry, is to increase radio share outside of London.

Members include Michael McIntyre, agency sales director for GMG, Helen Walledge, head of agency sales for GMG, Aaron Tibbits, regional sales director at talkSPORT, Andy Jones, First Radio sales director, Max Brown, regional account manager for Bauer Media, Cheryl Levington, client services director for Global Radio and Collette Cadwell, client strategist at Global Radio.

The organisation was set-up over 10-years-ago and has now been reformed in an effort to bolster the static levels of radio spend being recorded, while also providing training and best practice guidelines.

A new business operation will also begin through the forum, allowing members to pitch as a collective group to promote the benefit of using radio within campaigns.

Chairman Michael McIntyre, commented: “Our aim is simple, to drive radio share in the regions. At a time when return on investment is key for businesses, we want radio to be seen as the key channel for delivering measurable results and memorable campaigns.

“Currently, not all regions are covered for all radio groups, therefore our intention is to recruit regional members who will work within the RRF committee and act as a communication tool for all the work that the main RRF does. We want to filter out to all areas of the UK, so we’re looking for as many people as possible from the industry to get on board.”

An events calendar will be created as another facet of the organisation’s remit, to directly involve the radio industry, including showcase events, awards and industry discussions.
