American Apparel is courting controversy again after the clothes manufacturer unveiled new artwork by an artist better know for his work for adult magazines Hustler and Barely Legal.

Bloggers have shown their disgust at the new ads, with some commenting the firm has gone one step too far. American Apparel designs, creates and prints its own advertisements and is well known for its provocative and controversial advertising campaigns, largely the inspiration of company CEO Dov Charney.

Culture website Fashionista last week pulled together the company’s most risqué ads since their move into advertising in 1995. American Apparel faces an uncertain future as debts increase past $120million after significant losses last year. The firm recently agreed not to display an ad that had the potential to 'widely offend' people.
