Bristol-based digital creative agency, Beef, has provided Puffin Books with a website for one of its most popular children’s authors.

The website, titled Laugh Your Socks Off With Jeremy Strong, was developed to help encourage online sales of the author’s books, which include titles such as My Brother’s Famous Bottom and There’s A Viking In My Bed.

“Jeremy already had an active community of fans called the ‘Krazy Club’,” explained Ben Hostler, creative director at Beef.

“Puffin asked us to make his website more engaging to his young audience. We did this by making the site more interactive; with the key premise being that children can earn ‘doughnut points’ by submitting pictures and letters.

“These doughnut points can then be exchanged for downloadable rewards, which will help encourage children to make repeat visits.”

The website also provides mailing lists, resources for teachers and sneak previews of Jeremy’s up-coming works.

This is not the first time that Beef has provided such a site; others include Puffin author Cathy Cassidy, the Timeriders series and Ladybird’s Puddle the Naughtiest Puppy series.

“We have been working with Puffin for four years now and they trust and value our ideas,” explained Hostler.

“They’re a great client to work with, as it allows our design team to have a break from our more corporate projects and do something that’s a lot of fun.”

Beef will now be working with Puffin to generate new games for the site to help keep its content fresh and generate further traffic in the future.
