Yorkhill Children’s Foundation has begun its first text marketing campaign as it aims to encourage more people to donate money ahead of Christmas.

The campaign will run until the end of the year, inspired by similar initiatives by Sports Relief and Children in Need, and invites people to donate £3 by sending a text reading ‘YORKHILL’ to number 70003.

Companies are also being encouraged to support the campaign by adding the appeal details to their websites and promoting the text donating service to their staff and customers.

David Welch, head of fundraising, marketing and communications at Yorkhill Children's Foundation explained: "This is a particularly busy time of year and especially in the current climate one in which sick children need people's support more than ever.

"The campaign complements our overall marketing strategy and will be an opportunity for us to see how effective a text donation service is. Text donating is both quick and convenient and as a result, we hope it will encourage people to pick up their phones and donate. If it's a success, our aim is include this service as part of the marketing mix for future campaigns."
