Glasgow City Council has launched its ‘Don’t be a Tube campaign, a 40sec commercial produced by STV Creative.

It stars a phlegmatic cartoon exhaust spouting off about how exhausting it is not to be given a break. It prompts a (bone) idle compatriot to advise the spluttering gas exhaler to pipe down and confer with its owner over the financial benefits of fuel efficiency.

The ad closes with the exhortation: “Don’t be a tube, switch off your engine.”

A spokesperson for STV said: "The aim of the campaign is to engage viewers in a humorous way, highlighting the message that leaving your car idling is not only bad for the environment, it's also a waste of money and a contributor to respiratory problems."
