The new website for Sport Wales has been designed by Precedent.

The site saw Precedent tasked with take the organisation’s entire mission statement and remit online and provide the tools, resources and functionality to the Welsh people which would encourage more citizens to become involved in sport within the country.

Having picked up the project, the agency began with an audit of the existing site and also undertook a review of similar sites from around the world, uncovering a number of missed opportunities and new ideas.

The development team met with staff from each Sport Wales to develop a clear idea of what they needed and what could be lost.

These findings allowed the agency to develop the content plan, page designs and web templates, as well as a bilingual version of the site using Umbraco CMS, and worked with Sport Wales to develop a social media strategy.

Adam Fairbank, senior marketing officer for Sport Wales said: “We wanted a website which inspires people to take up sport, and act as a shop window that celebrates Wales’ sporting success – both of our elite athletes and teams, and the work of our partners in creating accessible opportunities within communities. In creating the site, we consulted widely with our key stakeholders and staff to ensure it delivered. This, along with our social networking presence, will allow us to further boost our relationship with our audiences and help us work towards uniting a proud sporting nation.”
