Marketing agency Kindred has become subject to a management takeover following the acquisition of the assets of the company by Tribal Group Plc.

The ownership of the company has been divided between current staff and management, with everyone from account director level and above – 24 members of staff – receiving shares.

Nick Mustoe, managing director of the agency (pictured) will continue to lead the business, supported by the existing wider Kindred board of Anastasia Scott, Ben Friend, Lorna Gozzard, Matt Harding, Matt Long and Max Wright.

An office move is planned for the immediate future and the agency will shortly be unveiling a new brand identity, which retains the Kindred name.

Nick Mustoe said: “This is very exciting for us – Kindred was formed from independent agencies and we’re really looking forward to returning to this. With so many agencies being swallowed up by big networks, we believe the flexibility and freedom to innovate that we get from being independent will bring real opportunity for us and considerable benefits for clients.

“We’ve decided to open up the share ownership scheme because we know our staff are some of the best in the business and we want them to be part of our success. We have a collection of great specialists in PR, advertising, branding and design, social media and digital work all under one roof and we look forward to working as one team with clients to find new ideas to solve their communication problems.”

The agency was formed in January of last ear following the merger of PR agency Geronimo Communications and advertising agency Mustoes.

The Edinburgh office of Kindred was closed last October, resulting in two redundancies.
