The postponed tender to appoint a creative agency and media buyer for Seafish is set to go ahead having been put back in June.

Despite its ongoing legal dispute with the British Seafood Group over the payment of a tax levy on the payment of importing raw materials to Seafish, set to be heard early next year, the fishing authority has decided to continue with its search for a creative agency.

The first tender was postponed due to the legal wrangle which saw the organisation due an immediate payment of £300,000 as a result of a ruling in favour of Seafish. The organisation is due a total of £2 million through the ruling.

The successful creative agency will be tasked with handling the marketing of Seafish, following the outcome of research undertaken by Leeds-based-agency, Brass.

Malcolm Large, member secretary for Seafish told The Drum that the brief was essentially the same as the one previously issued, other than this tender will accept offers from creative agencies to handle media planning and buying duties, where as the two services were previously advertised to tender separately.

It is thought that the resulting campaign work will begin to roll out in the first quarter of 2011.

The deadline for expressions of interest is set for next Friday (17 September), with the creative brief set to follow to those who apply soon after.
