John Smith's launches Pub Darts on iPhone

Ale brand John Smith's has launched a new 'Pub Darts' game for the iPhone.

Created by marketing agency Steam UK, the branded game allows users to play against their friends or try to beat the clock. It uses the iPhone's Bump app so players can go head to head.

Like the top pros players need their own nickname and the game contains a random darts name generator that players can link up to their Facebook profiles.

John Smith's says the app reinforces its "support for grass roots darts" and its sponsorship of the professional game.

The brand is associated with the BDO World Darts Championship and the Winmau World Masters and the app's release coincides with the launch of amateur event, the John Smith's People's Darts Championship.

Gareth Turner, senior brand manager for John Smith’s at Heineken UK, said: “The Pub Darts app for the iPhone is a great way for consumers to practise their game in preparation for the John Smith’s People’s Darts Championship when they have left their arrows at home!”
