A series of advertisements run in Little Pig Farm magazine have been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for claiming that its breed of pigs, known as Kune Kune’s, would not grow beyond pint size.

Experts from the British Kune Kune Pig Society took the farm to task over the promotions however, pointing out that the vital statistics quoted for the animals understated the dimensions of a fully grown adult.

In addition the Society pointed out that claims the animals were “easy to care for” were “misleading”.

The ASA agreed with the first point, calling the advertisers claims “unsubstantiated” but disagreed with the second stating that their would be an implicit understanding from buyers that a degree of “work and effort” would be required for their upkeep.

As a specialist breeder the Little Pig Farm rears a range of pampered micro pigs which have become must have accessories amongst celebrity circles.

Retailing for £700 these pigs aren’t porky and enjoy a five star upbringing which includes a cuddle every day and Classic FM piped to their bedrooms.

Described as “easily house trained” the pets will lie on your lap, “talk” to you and allow their bellies to be scratched.
