Nuance Communications, a leader in global speech recognition, has appointed Bristol-based Mason Zimbler to launch its latest software for PCs.

The UK campaign is due to launch in mid-August and will feature TV and online campaigns, and sales channel campaigns. It will focus on the "market-changing speed and accuracy" of the new software, which enables the voice to work with the mouse and keyboard to control everyday computing tasks.

The campaign will target a mainly male audience of ABC1s who are active online and use their home PCs for social media and research.

Media will cover sport, motoring, news, documentaries, comedy and lifestyle websites and TV channels.

Amelia Alvares, senior marketing manager at Nuance, said: "We were very impressed with Mason Zimbler's in-depth research and understanding of the product, prosumers and market. Together, we've worked up an exhilarating creative idea, which we're really excited about."

James Trezona, managing director for Mason Zimbler in Europe, said: "This is a great example of how a multi-channel campaign can work hard across media as diverse as TV and social networks to really reach specific audiences. We also had a lot of fun testing the software. It's a world away from speech recognition software from years ago. This will really impact on how people interact with their PCs."

The TV ad, which breaks today, features a skydiver sending an email from 13,000 feet using voice commands.
