Digital developers Jim Savage and Sam Birch have left Liverpool agency Mando Group after 10 years to start their own company.

Savage was Mando's head of front-end development and Birch was the agency's senior front-end developer.

They describe their new Liverpool-based business, Made By Jam, as "a small digital development company specialising in user-centric design and front-end code".

The pair, whose work once caught the attention of the Wall Street Journal, said they had enjoyed their decade at Mando but felt ready to go it alone.

"Our time at Mando Group was immensely enjoyable and after contributing to Mando’s growing success we now feel the time is right to run our own business," Savage said.

"With Mando’s continuing and successful push into more technology-led enterprise markets, we still feel there is a strong need for a smaller and more reactive approach to user-centric design, particularly in areas of front-end development," he added.

The new outfit is now "hard at work" developing an iPad project for an American facial recognition software company and working collaboratively with other north west agencies to deliver "front-end packages".

Savage said they hope to work with more agencies keen on collaboration.
