Northwest climate fund Foundation has launched a consumer PR campaign, and tasked newly formed consultancy Souter PR.

The PR agency has been tasked with raising awareness of the Clean Getaway campaign and highlight the heightened carbon impact of holiday travel, while encouraging travellers in the north west to compensate by making donations to fund a number of carbon reduction projects within the region.

The campaign will begin with a focus on responsible travellers in South Manchester, through local events, social media and community partners highlights how to calculate and donate a summer holiday carbon contribution. This will then roll out across other parts of the region.

Mark Turner, chief officer of Foundation, explained: “We want to get communities engaged in the Clean Getaway initiative to demonstrate just how they can compensate for their carbon use – and invest in the sustainable future of their neighbourhood at the same time. The projects we invest people’s donations in are innovative carbon reducing projects.”
