It's the week's media and marketing news from the mouths of those making the headlines. This week, Sky News, BAA and FIFA all drop into conversation...

"The Trust concludes that, as things stand, the case has not been made for the closure of 6 Music."

The BBC Trust announces that despite the best efforts of the Beeb's director general Mark Thompson, digital radio station 6 Music will stay on air.

"The Co-operative has undergone significant changes over the last two years, with the biggest re-brand exercise in UK corporate history and the largest marketing campaign ever undertaken by The Co-operative.," says Patrick Allen, marketing director of The Co-operative while talking about the marketing campaign to promote the brand's sponsorship of the British Music Experience.

"We will look to minimise the impact on our partners through this difficult period."

Yorkshire Forward chairman Terry Hodgkinson promises to consult with those affected after £40m was wiped off the regional development agency's budget, causing more than £2m worth of media and marketing projects to be scrapped.

"It's a family decision really. I've been here with Liz for three years and it's been really great. But I've got two teenagers at delicate ages and my husband is working down in London so I want to be around holding the fort while they're sitting exams."

Planning Express co-owner Katrina Michel tells The Drum why she's decided to quit the day job and train as a teacher in her free time.

A message left by a seemingly underage drinker on a Bebo fan page dedicated to alcopop brand WKD. The Scottish Youth Commission on Alcohol says such fan pages for drinks brands are a bad influence and choc full of youngsters.

My view is that breaking the shirt sponsorship into segments will not give any of the sponsors the appropriate level of coverage. This really is a case of the whole being greater than the individual parts.

Sports marketer Gary McCall is skeptical about Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur's plan to split its shirt sponsorship deal into two parts for the first time. Spurs will wear two different sponsors next season - one in the league and one in the cups.
