Story develops Smidge brand to target Scotland Holiday markets

Story has developed the brand for the newly launched insect repellent Smidge, developed by Advanced Pest Solutions in a bid to combat the Scottish midge over the summer.

The development of the product was led by Dr Alison Blackwell, an authority on midge behaviour and leader of the team behind the Scottish midge forecast.

Edinburgh agency Story has created a brand which will target tourists, holidaymakers and outdoor enthusiasts to wish to avoid the being bitten by midges while in Scotland, with the name designed to give a clear link to them.

An iPhone app has also been developed to promote the brand, offering a daily and seven-day forecast for Midges in Scotland, based on Google Maps.

The app rates over 50 locations in Scotland, using a scale of one to five, with five being the most annoying area for Midges.
