The Trafford Centre has retained AL Marketing as its marketing and advertising consultants - despite appointing BJL to create its Christmas campaign earlier this week.

Hertfordshire-based AL has worked with the Trafford Centre for 14 years and started on the account before the Manchester shopping centre had even opened. It was retained after a pitch against undisclosed Manchester rivals.

Michael Agapiou, AL's creative director, said it was "very unusual" for any agency to represent one client for so many years.

"While we have long relationships with many of our clients, almost 14 years is certainly exceptional and is the best compliment we could receive for the contribution we have made in helping the centre achieve 12 years of unbroken footfall growth," Agapiou said.

"We started working with The Trafford Centre team 18 months prior to the opening and have worked hard to provide them with exceptional creativity and service every year since."
