Skills Development Scotland’s (SDS) “brand migration plan” has found itself under the kosh in the Scottish parliament after Labour leader Ian Gray accused the agency of squandering £2m of public money.

Uffindell West had been appointed to oversee a name change to ‘Scotland the Works’

During a fiery First Ministers questions Gray accused SDS of spending £555k on a “visual identity transition” and a further £1.68m on marketing its new name, calling this a waste of money on “marketing mumbo jumbo.”

Unfortunately for Gray the £1.68m figure was actually spent on advertising apprenticeships and the £555k funded an adult literacy programme.

SDS stress that Gray’s comments were a “total misunderstanding” and have now backtracked on their plans for a rebrand.
