Tanya Bryan has joined Design Initiative, the organisation tasked with the promotion of the North West design sector, as its development director.

Bryan joins from Arts Council England and will act as the public face of Design Initiative, and will oversee its strategic development.

She joined Arts Council in 1999 and has since held a variety of regional and national roles while promoting the use of good design, , further the place of artists and designers in the art, design and public realm sectors and in the distribution of capital lottery and treasury funding.

“I have long admired the work of Design Initiative which is one of only a small handful of organisations of its type in the country. During its 18-year history it has made a significant contribution to the success of the design sector at both a regional and a national level,” explained Bryan.

“My aim is to build on this track record while at the same time finding new ways to contribute to the sector’s success, for example through new services, new partnerships and new sources of income.”
