Channel 4 News has approached user experience design agency Clearleft as it looks to redevelop its website to ensure that it better represents it daily flagship bulletin.

The Brighton agency has been tasked with designing to website to bring ‘the distinctive values and visual characteristics of Channel 4 News’ to the digital world.

The new website will also aim to increase the length of time users stay on the site and to incorporate a more digestible version of each days show online.

In order to achieve this, the site will include the latest techniques to promote feedback, comments and integration with the reports and blogs, such as Jon Snow's Snowblog.

In advance of the site’s development, the agency will spend time at the ITN newsroom to get a feel for how news is reported so it can bring this methodology to its online presence.

"We are proud of the difference between our show and other news broadcasters and wanted to improve our engagement with our audience," explained Vicky Taylor, cross-platform commissioner for Channel 4 News.

"As well as bringing the insight and analysis from our international correspondents to the site we are keen to develop the conversation between our team and the audience".

The site is expected to go live in the Autumn.
