International electricity and gas company National Grid has appointed six agencies to a two-year framework to deliver community relations support for its electricity, gas and property business.

The Grid is set to carry out a ‘significant investment programme’ over the next few years in order to maintain and upgrade its network. A number of schemes will be implemented, as a result, in order to allow it to apply for consent from the new Infrastructure Planning Commission, for which it will require extensive public consultation.

“We believe the agencies we have chosen will add to our knowledge and experience of community relations and will help us to engage effectively with the communities where we are delivering these vital projects,” said a spokesperson for the National Grid.
