Riverside Museum Appeal goes online with Reading Room
The £74m Riverside Museum project in Glasgow has launched a website with Reading Room as it looks to find the final £2m required to complete the £74m building on the River Clyde.
The Riverside Museum is intended to be the replacement for Glasgow's Museum of Transport, which cannot sustain the 500,000 visitors it receives annually and closes on 18 April.
The new museum will house its collections and will open in 2011 if it can find the outstanding finance.
So far Glasgow City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Glasgow Harbour have invested in the museum and £3m has been raised from the appeal.
It is hoped the appeal and donations will "create a feeling of ownership for the new landmark" and every donation will be permanently recognised in the museum.
