Codeworks has issued a £3.2m tender as it looks to create a new digital framework through One North East.

Codeworks, a centre for digital innovation based in North East England, has instructed One North East, the regional development agency, to issue a six lot tender for a range of support and programming services.

The agreement envisages a maximum of 39 participants working on the six contracts over the next four years, managing a combined budget ranging from £817k - £3.268m.

Up for grabs in lot one is the contract to provide a prototype internet platform which marries social networking to a prototype interactive website amongst other features.

Lot two invites interested parties to put together a client systems prototype. It is expected that such a system would comprise a fat client, installed applications, rich GUI and desktop applications.

Third in line is a notice for mobile phone applications development, covering iphone, Symbian, J2me and Windows devices.

Lot four stipulates an embedded systems prototype, comprising custom embedded syatems, assembly programming and low level device drivers.

All four programming services lots are costed between £400k and £1.6m and will be used for the purposes of building a working model of a product that may be used for demonstration purposes, technical proving and specific quick mobilisation.

The lot five appointee(s) will be required to undertake market research on around 60 concepts by conducting desk based research, expert witness interviews, focus groups and competitor analysis. Budgets will be in the £337k and £1.348m.

The final lot seeks university researchers or freelance consultants to support Codeworks in the delivery, definition, development and delivery of the DEV consultancy. These engagements are unlikely to exceed £2k in each case.

Tenders must be made no later than midday on 8 Feb.
