Marketing Birmingham’s marketing director, Dave Hodgson, has been head-hunted to take up a new role overseas.

Joining as a member of Falcon’s senior management team, Hodgson's role will focus on building a strategic and integrated marketing communications plan for the Emirate (working with public and private partners in Dubai and the UAE).

Commenting on his move Neil Rami, chief executive of Marketing Birmingham said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Dave and a testament to the work that he and the team have done here in recent years. He has contributed greatly to our work of developing the region’s visitor economy and moves on with our best wishes."

Hodgson added: "I have enjoyed immensely my time at Marketing Birmingham and feel we have made tremendous progress in recent years and put in place a sound strategy for the future. Whilst I will miss Birmingham and my colleagues here this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I could not let go."

It is believed that Marketing Birmingham will be replacing Hodgeson with a senior level appointment in due course.
