New digital agency Shout has launched in Newcastle, headed up by the former technical director for TH_NK, Gary Boon.

Boon left TH_NK at the end of September and will now act as managing director of the newly formed rival agency Shout after around five years in his previous role.

He is being backed by inventor and entrepreneur Gary Hosmer and Ian Baggett, founder of investment company Adderstone Group.

The agency will look to offer a mobile phone application service for which its first application will be delivered by the end of the year, while also developing websites and will consider the possibilities afforded by cloud computing.

“We are working across all digital channels including web etc,” said Boon. “The mobile channel as I see it is immature at this time, we are seeing huge changes in the way content is both delivered and interacted with. We see the mobile sector as a perfect channel to deliver brand content anytime, anywhere and the opportunities to work in that sector in addition to the web are potentially very rewarding.”

Boon explained his reasons for departing TH_NK, saying that he felt the time was right to move on and that he also did not believe that the company was heading in a direction he was happy with.

“Ultimately I felt that the company was becoming too focussed on delivering digital strategy and the creation of solutions to support those strategies had, I felt, become a secondary consideration,” he said.
