Paver Smith has been appointed to generate support for a major international boat show which could be held in Liverpool in 2011.

The Liverpool Boat Show would be held in the historic surroundings of the Albert Dock and backers claim it would attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and inject millions into the city's economy.

Organiser Marine Industry Events briefed Paver Smith to handle PR and provide creative services and the Liverpool and Manchester agency has already created a brand identity.

Dougal Paver, the agency's managing director, said: "We’d been talking to the organisers for some time but rightly went through a tough competitive tendering process. It’s a brilliant contract win for us, not least because it’s going to be a huge amount of fun."

The show has secured funding from the European Union and now needs further support from marine industry exhibitors to ensure it goes ahead.
