A new campaign from The Scottish Government has launched, developed by The Leith Agency, which looks to ensure that adults who are at risk from harm receive support an

The TV campaign has been designed to raise awareness of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 which came into force last October to help stop acts of deliberate and unintentional harm and neglect taking place.

The campaign, which has been developed by Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland, Alzheimer Scotland and Momentum in partnership with Scottish Government, highlights the importance of speaking to someone if harm is suspected, and signposts people to sources of help and advice.

The TV campaign will be supported by regional press advertising with posters and leaflets distributed to GP surgeries, pharmacies and libraries.

David Manion, chief executive of Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland, said that he hoped the campaign would raise public awareness of the legislation.

“We know that about one in twenty older people experience at least one form of harm and they find it difficult to get help. The campaign will help them understand they don’t have to tolerate mistreatment and that by contacting the Social Work Department they will get the help and support they need,” Manion continued.
