Over 20 cuts at Daily Record and Sunday Mail
More than 20 journalists at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail have today been told that they will be made redundant.
Bosses at the titles, owned by Trinity Mirror, told 24 members of staff that they would lose their jobs.
An emergency meeting is being held at the two papers' National Union of Journalists Chapel to plan a response.
A one-day strike had already been planned to begin at midnight on Friday to protest against compulsory redundancies.
In January, Trinity Mirror announced plans to cut 70 jobs across both papers and merge production of the Glasgow-based titles. According to the NUJ, more than 40 volunteers put themselves forward for redundancy but bosses want more cuts.
