RMS PR, the Altrincham-based full service agency has expanded its design studio by hiring David Merrell, an award winning toy designer, as head of design.

Merrell, who was previously a brand design manager at Martin Yaffe International, has won awards at The Practical Pre-School Awards and The Right Start Best Toy Awards for the development of toy brand Odd Bodz. These characters are sold in Tesco, Boots, John Lewis and on Amazon.

Merrell will now develop design concepts for a range of RMS PR clients including College of Law, pro-manchester and Character World.

Merrell said: "I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and putting my ideas into practice. My creative experience will be put to good use as RMS has a diverse range of clients.”

Ruth Shearn, managing director of RMS PR, said: "David is a talented designer and a real asset to the RMS PR team. His enthusiasm for design and the way he approaches his work is a major turn on for our clients. I like his entrepreneurial drive and it's that which attracted him to our team. He knows he's at the crest of a wave in the development of our studio. I want our studio to win major awards for its work and he's equally ambitious."
