Scottish Motor Auctions (SMA) has appointed Triple One Media to handle its marketing and advertising spend.

Triple One Media, part of the Glasgow-based Mediaquarter group of companies, was formed in December last year and has already landed a string of major contracts.

SMA is the UK’s oldest and largest independent vehicle auction group. The company has sites in Livingston, Aberdeen, Kinross and Newcastle, and has just completed the purchase of Premier Motor Auctions in Leeds. The company offers 22 weekly sales from the five sites and is expected to sell 130,000 vehicles this year.

Bob Anderson, managing director of SMA, said: “We are delighted to have made the acquisition of the business in Leeds, which enhances our position within the auction industry and increases the profile of the SMA brand as a forward thinking and successful independent auction company.

“And we are delighted to have appointed Triple One Media for our marketing and advertising needs.”

Mike Hartley, head of business development at Mediaquarter, said: “We are delighted to be working with SMA as they expand their business. Already, they are seen to lead the market in Scotland and are now pushing south with branches in Newcastle and Leeds.

“In this economic climate it is good to see a company that has started the year so brightly and understands the importance of strong marketing. We will be handling all of SMA’s media requirements and, of course, maximizing their spend across creative, traditional and digital marketing.”

In January, Triple One Media announced it won contracts from the Archer Group of car dealerships, Tulloch Homes, and Craftsman Cladding.
