Financial organisation Aegon UK has announced that it will restructure its marketing department which will see the creation of four senior management roles, but mean that 11 marketing positions will be made redundant.

The company is to begin a voluntary redundancy scheme or redeploy staff to other areas within the Edinburgh based office of the company and is working with union body Aegis.

The move follows the appointment of Andy Marchant as life and pensions marketing director last October and will mean the creation of four new senior management roles in the department.

Two of these roles will focus directly on the company’s key customer groups. The new roles of head of individual marketing and had of corporate marketing will lead on the development of compelling customer and intermediary propositions.

The individual role will focus on meeting the changing needs of people who are taking out plans for themselves or their families, and the Corporate role on commercial customers making decisions on behalf of their company.

It is understood that the company is looking to appoint externally for these roles.

As well as those, two further senior management roles will be created to focus on the core strategic marketing support areas of e-commerce and planning.

The company hopes to have completed the appointments before the end of April.

Meanwhile two existing senior roles have already been filled recently and will focus on technical services and Aegon’s developing Investment Proposition.

The new life and pensions marketing structure has been created in order to fit closely with this development and leverage the increased brand awareness that the partnership will bring.

A statement from the company read: “We believe this new structure for life and pensions marketing will enable the business to move forward more effectively with its development plans.”
