Fyfe Hyland, chief executive of sports and events agency Platinum One is to take on the role of commercial director at Hibernian Football Club from Monday.

The Edinburgh based football club has appointed Hyland to the role to succeed Ian Spence who announced his departure in September.

Hyland joined Platinum One in November 2007 having joined following his depature from 1576.

Scott Lindsay, Hibernian’s chief executive, said: "We are delighted that Fife has agreed to join the Club. He brings a wealth of experience in the world of sports sponsorship and communication and I have no doubt that he will make a valuable contribution in the years ahead."

Maeve Buckley, group chief executive of Platinum One told The Drum that the position would not be filled straight away, with the senior management team of the Edinburgh office taking on board the extra responsibilities. The situation will then be reviewed in the new year.
