Following the AGM of the Scottish Print Employers Federation, it has been agreed that the organisation is to continue under a new name, Graphical Enterprise Scotland (GES) working alongside a new mission statement.

At the AMG the conclusions and recommendations of a six month strategic industry review were presented to members of the federation.

Plans were put in place as an attempt to reposition Scotland’s struggling printing industry and make it ‘integral’ to the country’s creative industries sector.

GES will aim to cover all printing technologies and supply partners while also offering member enhanced membership packages which will encompass sector specific, web based reference material, annual health and safety and human resources health check ups as well as reduced membership rates for specialist consultancy services.

The organisation will also continue to administer the industry’s apprentice training scheme while also offering human resource advice covering dispute, resolution and national wage negotiation.

David McCormick was also announced as president of the newly titled organisation, assuming duties from out going president Terry O’Hare following his two year tenure.

Simon Fairclough, director of GES commented; “We’re breathing new life into our organisation so that we might better meet the present and future needs of members existing and prospective. We plan to be more visible and more relevant.”
