Watch Speake2 and Knew Productions' hard-hitting campaign aiming to crack down on speeding motorists in North Wales.

Commissioned by Denbighshire County Council to promote BikeSafe, and supported by Wrexham Council, the commercial will be broadcast on Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer. It broke last Friday, 23 May on ITV Wales (HTV).

The commercial, entitled Not Playing Anymore, reflects the devastating impact fatal collisions have on the family and loved ones and aims to inspire bikers to improve their riding skills by contacting BikeSafe. The production budget was £20,000.

Speake2 director Saul Peake, said: “Our focus in producing this commercial has been to communicate with men who often don’t perceive themselves as possible victims. Trying to ride out your mid-life crisis on a bike that is too big and powerful for your riding skills isn’t just childish – it’s dangerous.”

Richard Knew, director of Knew Productions added: “Our crew worked really hard on this powerful, hard hitting commercial. We used specialist mini cameras to get the shots from the point of view of the toy motorbike, so there were some sore knees by the end of the shoot. It all came together really well in the edit and we’re really proud that this may encourage motorcyclists to ride more safely.”

In 2007, there were 152 collisions involving motorcylists across North Wales, with 13 people killed. John Williams, traffic safety officer at Denbigshire Council, said: “we hope this commercial will literally bring the message home to all motorcyclists to take extra care when out riding and to keep safety at the forefront of their minds.”
