John Denholm, founder of The Leith Agency, has been appointed as chairman of internet marketing specialists Ambergreen.

He takes over the post at the Edinburgh-based agency from Derek Gordon.

In a career spanning three decades, Denholm is one of the best known faces in Scottish advertising. Starting out in marketing management with Boots and S&N he jumped the fence when he joined Hall Advertising before launching The Leith Agency.

He retains a non-executive post with the Leith Agency and is MD of Denholm Associates, where he is focused on developing the recruitment agency.

Ambergreen, founded by Tino Nombro and Grant Whiteside, was an early pioneer of search marketing, understanding the powerful potential of the then fledgling industry.

Denholm's appointment aims to bring a “fresh perspective” that will allow the company to grow.
