Strathclyde Passenger Transport is set to review its marketing account as it names its new head of marketing.

The review of the account, currently held by The Bridge, will not be overseen by the new head of marketing, Amanda Anderson, who joins having already been seconded to the company from The Bridge.

Anderson will officially join the marketing department of SPT at the start of January, once her maternity cover contract with the company expires.

It is understood that SPT expects to have the appointment of the winning agency in place by the end of March.

Bob Wylie, director of communications for SPT deflected any controversy that the appointment of Anderson would give the incumbent agency an unfair advantage, saying: “We are delighted to have recruited Amanda Anderson to come to work for SPT, especially as she made The Drum’s list of Top Women in Scottish Marketing. Obviously, for the award of the contract, we want to make sure that everything is absolutely tikityboo and nailed down and given Amanda’s previous relationship with The Bridge, she will not be involved in any decisions taken to award our new contract to an advertising agency early in 2008.”
