Emap Advertising has appointed Barry Wood in the new role of commercial director for Scotland. Wood joins Emap Advertising from Yahoo! where he has been working as head of specialist agency sales for the last two years. He will take up the role at Emap Advertising from July.

Barry Wood will lead an eight-strong sales team who will manage and deliver creative advertising solutions across Emap Advertising’s extensive national radio portfolio for Scottish media agencies and the Scottish Executive exclusively. This team to date have been working solely with Emap Advertising’s Scottish radio stations. The change in the team’s role reflects Emap’s opportunity to expand radio sales in Scotland. The team will be bolstered further at the end of this month with the appointment of Alex Macleod.

Barry Wood said: “I am delighted to be coming home to Scotland after ten years in the London market. This is a great opportunity to bring Emap’s entire portfolio of radio brands to our Scottish agencies and the Scottish Executive to ensure that market-leading customer service is a priority. These are exciting times for Emap, for radio, and for me personally.”

The appointment of Wood and change of focus for his team will allow Scottish agencies and the Scottish Executive easier access to Emap Advertising’s national radio brands, which are becoming an increasingly important tool for targeting specific audiences within the UK.

Karen Stacey, head of broadcast and interactive sales at Emap Advertising, said: “I am delighted to welcome Barry Wood to Emap in his role as commercial director for Emap Advertising in Edinburgh. Barry brings with him a wealth of agency sales experience and a great enthusiasm and passion for the role.”
