Scottish Creative Cup Returns

The Creative Cup is an annual competition for creatives in Scotland, now in its tenth year (at least). Over the last few years, interest has dropped, be it because of the industry climate, violence, bad organisation/short notice, teams with ringers or because people just can’t be bothered to turn up after they said they would. But, as result, the Creative Cup has slowly turned into a soggy paper cup.

In the Creative Cup history, Tayburn has won it three times, navyblue twice and 999 twice too, although these claims might be less than accurate. However, due to the mysterious disappearance of the cup (which is a shame as it was a fine cup with the history of the winners over the last 10 years engraved on it), the history is rather foggy – and the reason why we cannot back up any of the information on its history.

The Drum this year has agreed to back the event, hoping to bring back the old Creative Cup atmosphere. And what better way to launch it than to invite some of Scotland’s creatives to come up with a campaign for the Competition.

If you would like to enter a team from your agency into the Creative Cup, now’s your chance. It will take place at the Power League in Portobello at 6pm on Wednesday 29 October. Three games, food and some drink are guaranteed, and cups and medals, while not guaranteed, are up for grabs. Last year’s winners were the boys at navyblue. If you think that you have a team that can wrestle – or even outplay – the cup away from them, then now is your chance. If you would like to enter the competition, contact paul.burns@navyblue.com or gordon.laing@carnyx.com. Remember, it’s just for fun. Leave the rivalry at home...Yeah, right.
