Conran Restaurants, the company founded by design guru Sir Terence Conran, has opened a new restaurant in Glasgow’s upmarket Princess Square shopping centre.

The new restaurant, named étain, is based adjacent to ZINC Bar & Grill, another Conran property opened earlier this year.

Of the opening of étain, Sir Terence said: “We looked at endless sites and we are very, very happy to be here.”

Complimenting Glasgow, Sir Terence continued: “I happened to be one of the judges of the City of Architecture and Design 1999. It came to Glasgow and rightly so, because Glasgow is a city which is bubbling with design and creativity.”

Conran’s 50-year career has seen him become one of the most respected designers in the country. His achievements include the founding of the Conran Design Group, Habitat, and the Conran Shop – a furniture store with branches throughout the world.
