Over the past few months, The Weather Channel has used augmented reality (AR) throughout original and live programming to share important, lifesaving information to the public. Most recently, the channel is stepping up their executions for brands with their largest auto AR partnership to-date, with Jeep.

Throughout this summer, The Weather Channel is partnering with Jeep and using its award-winning AR technology to promote the Jeep Compass Limited and Jeep Compass Trailhawk on-air. The campaign will take viewers on “roadtrips” while in-studio to iconic holiday destinations throughout the country, complete with a projected road trip forecast from The Weather Channel’s meteorologists.

This partnership with Jeep is The Weather Channel’s largest auto augmented reality partnership to-date, but this is not their first use of the technology. Over the past few months, The Weather Channel has utilized the technology to deliver lifesaving information to their viewers, including a dedicated segment about hurricanes to visualize how this weather phenomenon impacts everyday life. They’ve also used AR to explain how weather affects golf, ahead of the much-anticipated Masters and the breakdown of the science behind baseball.
