Samsung has teamed up with Emmy Award nominee Issa Rae (Insecure) and award-winning music video director Lacey Duke to celebrate Rae’s big moment during her big moment as a nominee for her show Insecure.

By reflecting on Rae’s major milestones – from Awkward Black Girl to her nomination to air during the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards, Samsung intends to celebrate Issa Rae and also inspire other creators at large with the commercial.

As part of Samsung’s ‘Do What You Can’t’ campaign, the 30-second ad highlights Samsung’s mission to empower creators to break barriers and achieve the impossible. A longtime Galaxy Note fan, Samsung noted in a release that Rae is the living embodiment of Samsung’s campaign motto and has been able to use the power of technology to propel her vision in entertainment.

‘Made It’ follows Rae from her humble beginnings as a creator in the Stanford dorms, to her star turn as a first-time Emmy-nominated actor. Through it all, we see her appreciation and excitement. Samsung is shining a spotlight on how technology enabled Rae’s journey. The honest and candid look at the fear that came with trying something new, the hard work that went into making a passion project a reality, the joy that came from achieving her dreams – and how technology was with her every step of the way are highlighted.
